As many of you know, we lost Anne Marie D'Amico, in the horrific van attack that occurred in Toronto on April 23, 2018. She was one of 10 individuals that lost their lives that day, 16 others were physically injured and thousands emotionally scarred for life. Needless to say, the past year and a half without her has been tremendously difficult for her family and our hearts still ache over her loss. Coping with her loss has been a challenge for the D'Amicos, but as a family, they are determined to turn this tragedy into a story of hope and inspiration. The Anne Marie D'Amico Foundation was launched on December 3, 2018, what would have been Anne Marie's 31st birthday. The Foundation's mission is to focus on supporting humanitarian causes that embody Anne Marie's spirit by helping to make a positive difference. On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, the Foundation is hosting its inaugural event, The Turtle Project. The Turtle Project hopes to bring awareness and support to end violence against women through an evening of dance performances, live music and magic. All proceeds will be donated to the construction of the North York Women's Shelter, a place of healing, empowerment and refuge for women and their children who are survivors of violence and abuse.
