COVID-19 Vaccine Update 4

Yesterday, Ontario received 194,500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the Serum Institute in India, which are set to expire on April 2, 2021.

In order to use these vaccines before they expire, the government has partnered with pharmacies and family doctors to administer these vaccines in Ontario's hotspots.

Starting today, people aged 60-64, will be able to book an appointment by phone at a pharmacy to receive the Astra Zeneca vaccine. The vaccine will available starting Friday March 12, 2021.

Starting this weekend, primary care physicians will also be able to administer the Astra Zeneca vaccine for people aged 60 – 64. Contact your family doctor to make an appointment.

As of today, one million Ontarians have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and another million will be vaccinated by the end of March.

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

  • You will only be allow to book one appointment at a pharmacy. You will not be able to book multiple appointments. If you have an appointment, you will get a dose of the vaccine.
  • On Monday, March 15, the province’s on-line portal will be open for people aged 80 and over to book an appointment to receive the vaccine. Please be patient as we roll this out.
  • Please DO NOT use the portal at this time, if you are under 80 years of age
  • The portal will be open for people in Phase 2 (aged 60 – 79) at a later time
