The Willowdale Covid Response Network

This group was formed as our city, province and country began to take serious measures to limit the spread of Covid-19. They are a group of neighbours who are here to serve by providing:

Provides free legal advice for low-income Ontarians for their everyday legal problems as well as specialized resources to help answer legal questions regarding COVID-19 shutdowns.

Volunteer Toronto

Volunteer Toronto is a charity that connects volunteers to the causes that need them.

For individuals: Volunteers play a crucial role in helping communities fill urgent needs. Alerts with urgent community needs are sent to your inbox every 3-7 days.

The Kindness Project

Organized by the Willowdale Community Christian Assembly, the Kindness Project provides free meals and meal prep services to individuals and families who need assistance amid the COVID-19 crisis. The group also intends to establish a drop-off service.

Valleyview Day Program

The City is working with the Red Cross and other partners to provide food hamper delivery to seniors and others in need who are self-isolating and unable to leave their homes to access food. This is an essential and free service.

ConnexOntario: Adults and frontline workers that are dealing with the realities of COVID-19 can call ConnexOntario at: 1-866-531-2600 for mental health, addictions and problem gambling support. Learn more at: connexontario.ca.

Kids Help Phone: Children and youth 18 and under who need to talk to someone about their mental health can call KidsHelpPhone at: 1-800-668-6868, for 24/7 virtual, phone and text support. Learn more at: kidshelpphone.ca.

BounceBack Ontario: A free, evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) program that provides guided mental health self-help supports for adults and youth 15+ using workbooks, online videos and phone coaching. Call: 1-866-345-0224 and learn more at: bouncebackontario.ca.

Good2Talk: A 24/7 phone and texting service that provides confidential mental health and addictions support to post-secondary students. Call 1-866-925-5454, text GOOD2TALKON to 686868, and learn more at good2talk.ca.  

For Ontarians currently receiving mental health and addictions services and supports, please contact your current service provider, including community-based mental health and addictions agencies, to learn about potential virtual care options. Many are modifying their services to move towards virtual care, meeting clients by phone or secure video-conferencing as appropriate.

How You Can Protect Yourself From COVID-19

  1. Wash your hands frequently (minimum 20 seconds) using soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  2. Maintain social distancing from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

  3. Practice respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.

  4. Dispose of the tissue immediately and wash your hands.

  5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent the virus from entering your body.

  6. Stay home if you are feeling unwell and conduct a self -assessment.

  7. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Contact your local health care provider, Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 or your local public health unit.
